Ever find yourself unable to put down your phone? Well, you are not alone as an up and rising problem internet addiction is as much of a problem as alcohol or drug addictions. More and more students use the internet for school work but are they truly in control or are they at the mercy of their own technology.

Important terminology to know
Technology: the application of scientific knowledge for practical purposes, especially in industry.
Dependence: the state of relying on or being controlled by someone or something else.
Laziness: the quality of being unwilling to work or use energy; idleness.
Addiction: the fact or condition of being addicted to a particular substance, thing, or activity
Procrastination: delay or postpone action; put off doing something
The task and question
You’re a student at an unknown high school and the school proposes a new rule No hand-held devices on school premise as students begin to protest you are tasked to represent the students and answer the question: Are hand-held devices inhibiting the ability of students to learn?
Impact of hand-held devices on humans
As technology continues to advance billions of people become more adapt to the new way of living such as surfing on the web, with that new problem and challenges surfaces. Feel lost without the internet? Well, according to Ofcom’s research in digital dependency 29% of people felt the same. From what videos people are watching to what they’re eating everything is now posted online it’s natural to build a reliance on something as grand as this but an over dependency on such thing is bad. Ever find yourself browser reddit or youtube and before you know it’s 1 in the morning and you’re watching raccoon eating a grape. Technology robs an important sense of human which is the sense of time, you could be spending your time studying or doing homework for a couple hours a day but instead you would rather scour the internet till daybreaks dawn

Conclusion
Technology while powerful and helpful enough to support the many of users, in the end technology is meant to be used as tools for human to enjoy and like everything in life it’s a balance.
