The Executive Team, under the guidance of Ms. Hari (principal of Burnaby Central Secondary), Mr. Errico (Director of Instructionn of SD41) and several other district and school advisors, carried out budgeting and organized efforts for the competition by masterfully developing all conference materials, marketing the opportunity and putting all final details into place.

The day of the competition will see around 100 students and over 30 external mentors, judges and advisory members participating. The Beyond Competition will have a fast pace with realistic challenges presented in the form of case studies in various aspects of business, encompassing components such as entrepreneurship, marketing, financials, production and administration in addition to preliminary work prior to the competition day. A Dragon’s Den simulation will also be a prominent enterprise, which aims for students to use their creativity and innovation in certain industries to make a marketable and profitable product. Select individuals from the Lower Mainland’s business sector will judge each component of the event.

Beyond is generously sponsored by an award winning self-serve soft ice cream chain aiming to disrupt the conventional market, commonly known as 720 Sweets & Etc. The keynote speaker, Wilson Lee, is a very sought after motivational self-professed serial entrepreneur having started a million-dollar event and a carnival game business within 2 years time. With his genuine passion for starting new businesses, he founded 720 Sweets & Etc. from the group up and grew it into a profitable success story. He not only thrives in his own businesses but also shares his motivation and passion by consulting other entrepreneurs in development across a variety of industries as well as inspiring students to achieve greater things.

Through this initiative, Beyond aims to be an entry level competition to create a long term program for students in the future to participate in and to teach students to reach beyond their limitations and strive to become better in their pursuits. A special thank you goes out to the competition advisors, Enactus BCIT, 720 Sweets & Etc. and all others who made this competition possible.
