On September 27th, Mr. George Somerwill will share his insights into the workings of the United Nations with students from all of the Burnaby secondary schools who attend the United Nations Connections club. The event will begin at 4pm in the Centre for Dialogue at Byrne Creek Secondary School.

Mr. Somerwill is a former UN official who has worked in humanitarian and peacekeeping areas over the past 15 years. He completed postings in Ethiopia and Eritrea, Pakistan, Sudan, Angola, Iraq and Liberia. He plans to visit Social Studies classrooms during the school year 2012-13 with his presentations, “UN Basics” and “UN Peacekeeping”.
